This movie is not an action movie, it’s more suspense flowing from witty, intelligent dialogue than action.

The cast is superb, especially the german officer Col. Hans Landa, played by Christoph Waltz, you have to watch him to understand what he bring to the role. Brad pitt is great as always.

Bref, run don’t walk to go see this one.

The Brothers Bloom

Really this movie is very charming, because of the film making and cinematography first but certainly thanks to the main cast: Mark Ruffalo, Adrian Brody and Rachel Weisz. It’s the story of 2 con men, brother con men.

They come back together for a last con, what’s interesting is that the viewer doesn’t have a clear idea of who’s conning whom, this keeps a tension until the end and keeps the audience guessing and it’s very well made by Rian Johnson. This is a very nice movie and I think it will hold up after several viewings, so maybe it’s worth to take a look @ the Blu-Ray when it comes out.

Shallows @ BOWLING

Shallows @ BOWLING

DOUBT: This movie was originally a theatrical story. It’s more adapted for the theater medium, but that spirit is reprocuded with an all quality reduced cast.

Philip Seymour hoffman can do no wrong in his movies, he’s one of the greatest actors and it shows in “Doubt”. The verbal confrontations with the Nun Meryl Streep are gripping. In addition I loved the choice of the director to leave the decision and conclusion to the audience, I found that it adds alot to “DOUBT”. very good flick.

The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button: At first I wasn’t...

The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button: At first I wasn’t attached emotionally to this movie, in the first quarter it’s more of a comedy than romance, but when you get to spend more time with the characters, you get attached to them and start caring for their fate. What comes afterwards is a simple concept leading to a fascinating and deeply affecting story. Both Cate Blanchette and Brad Pitt were excellent in this flick, they make the 2h30 long movie look alot shorter. Go see this movie people if only to check out the movie that’s nominated for 13 Oscars in 2009, you won’t be dissapointed.

Changeling: 2h20 will pass by and you won’t even notice...

Changeling: 2h20 will pass by and you won’t even notice it, the start is a little slow but after 20 minutes you will be deeply into this drama, just great and touching. The kid actors are phenomenal too.

Body of lies: Simply Put.
Tim Burton captures you from the 1st second of the opening credits, the visuals and the music take you from this world and puts you in the world of Edward so when you see him, you don’t feel strange, this is Burton’s magic. I loved and wished I could see more of Edward’s Father / Inventor actor Vincent Price.

I think in the latest Burton movie, Sweeney Todd, several elements were inspired of this movie.

In a nutshell:Great movie.

W.:

A very solid and entertaining movie. What’s fascinating is that the director Oliver Stone who’s known for his opposition to the Bush politics, didn’t go for the easy choice of mocking the president, nor did he parody him. As I saw it, he paints a very balanced portrait of the man, showing him as lovable and close to the heart person, that is influenced by his entourage, but ultimately thinks that he has to carry the message of good vs evil in this world.

Acting wise, Josh Brolin becomes George W. Bush from the first minute, he’s great in the role, so are the other actors, except the actress playing condoleza Rice, she had a very weak performance. This is a fresh movie to see, it won’t make you change your mind about the president, but will enable further interpretation of his decisions throughout his 2 terms.

hellboy 2: The Golden Army:

Creatures, creatures, creatures and then some more creatures. This is what makes this movie so good, the imagination of director and writer Guillermo Del Toro populates the world of Hellboy with multiple creatures, some that appear for less than 5 seconds, but contribute ultimately to the feel of this flick.

In a nutshell this movie is very enjoyable, even if, like me, you didn’t get to watch the first one. The difference with superhero movies is that Hellboy is not the only “Odd” creature in this human world, this makes all of the creatures human like, the way Ron Perlman (Hellboy) acts certainly helps giving the red creature human behaviour. Watch it or rent it.

[Pacman Pouf]

[Pacman Pouf]

The new dollar bill

The new dollar bill

Notorious (1946): An Alfred Hitchcock movie, greast cast with...

Notorious (1946): An Alfred Hitchcock movie, greast cast with Ingrid Bergma, Cary Grant and Claude Rains.

Bergman and Rains Out-Play Cary Grant in every scene of this movie. As said by my friend Kim, Cary Grant doesn’t seem to have any emotions in this movie, it’s certainly accentuated by the performance of Bergman here. It’s a classical movie, great to have in someone’s collection. Alfred Hitchcock shouldn’t be forgotten, his camera work is very subtle and makes alot of difference in the same time.

Tropic Thunder: This Film has a great start, a slower second act...

Tropic Thunder: This Film has a great start, a slower second act but a really great and funny third act. The supporting actors are really really great, from Matthew McConaughey to Tom cruise. And as I understood it, the first target of this movie is Hollywood and how it can all be cartooned and resumed in a bunch of characters.

Wixel Studios - Douma Game

Wixel Studios - Douma Game

Before the Devil’s knows you’re dead

Before the Devil’s knows you’re dead

12 Angry Men

12 Angry Men

The verdict

The verdict

The Indian Runner

The Indian Runner
